RIP Sally Ride

What i would like to know is this: why did it take almost two days to find out Sally Ride had passed away, when whitney houston and micheal jackson and amy winehouse get top billing? Not that they weren’t great… but Sally was, and i am sure many girls of my generation would agree, an american legend… an icon for all woman kind!! First woman in space? In the history books? Not only that but she continue to inspire and awe girls and women for years after my generation.. mine, or so it seemed, was just the first!
So, you tell me…? Why do american heroes get shoved to the background for a more sensationalized story?
Sally stuck true to her love, her life and her vocation… is that why? Had she lived her life in the rainbow spotlight would her death have been bigger news?
And technically, there may have been news stories i didnt see… i dont have cable right now, and dont really watch the news anyway.
But i looked online when i heard about whitneys death, and it was posted near bout soon right after it happened.
With sally? Not so much.
